Product Information

PTFE Sheet

PTFE sheet is a polymer material produced by polymerizing tetrafluoroethylene, valued for its broad performance range.

Material and Appearance

Material: Polytetrafluoroethylene, with repeat structure -(CF₂-CF₂)n-.

Usually white or light gray, with a smooth, uniform surface. Thickness ranges from 0.2 mm to 50 mm or more; dimensions can be customized.

Key Features

Temperature range listed: -196°C to 260°C, with resistance to rapid heating and cooling.

Resistance to strong acids, alkalis and aqua regia, with near insolubility in most solvents.

Low friction coefficient of approximately 0.04 and a non-stick surface.

High dielectric strength for electrical and electronic applications.

The source describes the material as non-toxic, odorless and biocompatible for food and medical uses.

Types

Molded sheet: PTFE resin molded and sintered.

Skived sheet: Pressed, sintered and rotary-cut for an even surface.

Modified sheet: Graphite, glass fiber or other fillers improve creep resistance and strength.

Applications

Chemical processing: Corrosion-resistant linings and seals.

Machinery: Low-friction components.

Electrical and electronics: Insulation.

Food and medical equipment: Hygienic components.

Precautions

Soft mechanical properties require appropriate machining equipment.

Above 500°C, decomposition can produce corrosive fluorine-containing gases.

The source flags possible carcinogenicity of PFOA-related production materials and calls for controlled use.

PTFE sheet is particularly useful for corrosion protection, insulation and non-stick applications.
