Product Information
Reinforced Graphite Sheet
Reinforced graphite sheet laminates a metal core with flexible graphite roll material, combining metal strength with graphite corrosion resistance.
Material Properties
Temperature range listed: -200°C to 650°C; some grades up to 800°C.
Chemical range listed: pH 0–14, including acids, alkalis and organic solvents.
Compression strength up to 200 kgf/cm², with good compressibility and recovery and lower preload than metal gaskets.
Graphite provides low friction and high thermal conductivity for dynamic sealing.
Types
Tanged-metal reinforced: Graphite combined with a toothed metal insert for high-pressure sealing.
Bonded: Graphite bonded to mesh or flat metal sheet for flexibility and corrosion resistance.
Isostatically pressed: High-pressure manufacture of dense, uniform isotropic graphite sheet.
Applications
Flange seals on pipelines, valves and pressure vessels, as an asbestos-gasket alternative.
High-temperature, high-pressure seals in nuclear power and petrochemical systems.
Hydrogen fuel cells: The source also describes bipolar-plate applications with service life of 12,000–30,000 hours, compared favorably with metal plates.

Manufacture and Treatment
Processes include punching, extrusion and isostatic pressing, with optional oxidation-resistant and impermeability treatments.
Custom ultra-thin, large-format and irregular shapes are available for special service conditions.
